I am currently studying in Lyceum Philippines University in Laguna and i observe that many students here have laptops. Free WiFi Internet in our school is the one of the most common factor that almost every student bring their laptop computers. Some factors that the students bring laptops are to encode notes instead of writing it in a cattleya note, presentations like reporting or video or simply just to be "in" as a Lycean student. Last day, our school surveyed a proposal about that every student must have laptops. I don't think that this survey will get a through on it. I like to add a question and a answer about to this proposal...
WHAT WOULD YOU PREFER, LAPTOP OR DESKTOP??
My answer, desktop. The advantage of desktop is simply, you can upgrade the specifications of your desktop, like upgrading your video card, your RAM or memory and the most common is desktop is very comfortable to use in. Laptops are portable, yes that is right. Laptops can be up-gradable too. Another disadvantage of laptops based on forums is the lcd's or the monitor. Many laptops are damage due to monitor problem and if the monitor is damage or "NASIRA" your laptop is no longer to use and if you try to repair it, it will cost a lot of money. Don't just think that every student has an advantage of studying, what if a student bring their laptops and carry it from home to school. Today, many people have no jobs or business they think that the simplest way to have money is to make bad things like to rob. What if the students didn't want to give their things like their expensive laptops. And i think this proposal is having a loan to school to have a laptop i think and i am not pretty much sure this is a loan. This must be critically discussed. What about the cyber-lib? Whats the use of this of every student have a laptops? My suggestion instead of this proposal is to have a one or two computer desktop in every corridors, hallways or room. In order to take notes or browse or transfer files in very USB. This is not much expensive, right? If you want tips and advice please consult me, and please i'm not that expert in this things. I do this blog because for some suggestions and i it is ok to put negative comments about my blog.
I am graduate of Computer Technology in Peoples Center for Science and Technology Located at Halang, Calamba, Laguna and I've pass the NC2 Licensure exam. I have some advice for my classmates and some fellow students in maintaining a good maintenance in their computer desktops or laptops.
1. Always update your anti-virus - USB flash disk are the most common carrier of viruses. I advice to have a anti-virus-guard software to additionally add some security to your laptops. And i recommend to install Avast anti-virus or Kaspersky anti-virus. These anti-virus are the best. And lastly please have a full system virus scan every week
2. Based on our course we use software's like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After-Effects and many Adobe Applications. FIRST you must know before installing the system requirements of this particular applications. Like Adobe After-Effects CS4 this requires 1280x900 monitor resolution, this is about MB of you video card. How to find the memory of your video card: desktop-rightclick-properties-settings-advance-adapter. This is the location of the memory of your video card and if it is compatible to the video requirement of some Adobe Applications. If the video-card memory is 32MB this is a built-in video card memory or shared video-card memory in RAM, and i don't prefer to install Adobe Applications in your desktop or laptop.
3. BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH
If this appears on your screen please consult me. Formatting your laptop or computer is the best way to solve this.
4. BACK-UP YOUR FILES! It is good to have a 2 partitions or 2 parts in your computer hard disk drive. To the other partition where your Operating System is NOT located, this is the best location where to have copy or backuped files must be locate. Some other tips to back-up your files is to have 2 USB flash disk. Have a copy of your files to the other one USB. And simply send your files to your Email address, this is one good way to backup important files.
For Now, i think that this is enough from my advise. Please consult me from some problems on your laptops or desktops. I am willing to help as best as i can, and i believe that every mistakes makes more learning's. I am promoting my sideline job as a computer technician(free computer check-up). Pardon me for some English errors because i am not good in English writings or grammars. Thank you.
